The Wanderer Glenn Wohlsclagel

A huge asteroid nears Earth and ex-Marine Matt Roberts leaves Chicago for the relative safety of a smaller town. As the asteroid nears Earth's atmosphere, the earthquakes start. Knocked unconscious, Matt comes to and discovers he's been drawn to the asteroid along with many others. Matt leads the struggle for survival that ensues as the asteroid continues on its journey through space. Although the asteroid supports human life, its gravity is much stronger than Earth's, and is otherwise inhospitable, and the survivors are forced to scavenge off the debris that was also pulled off earth. The asteroid leaves our solar system and travels through space. It nears another planet that appears able to support life, and the survivors must find a way to leave the asteroid and see what this new world has to offer.
