Jane Eyre"s parents die when she is very young and she spends a loveless childhood in the care of her aunt and cousins. When she is ten she is sent away to school. Here life is not much better, with little food or warmth.
At last she is able to leave school, and she goes to work as a governess at Thornfield Hall. Life in her new home is quiet until her employer. Mr Rochester, suddenly returns. At first Jane has little to do with him. but then their love develops - although it is threatened by Mr Rochester"s mysterious past.
